Ask Yourself the Tough Questions

“You can BE what you want to be.

GET what you want to have.

GO where you want to go.

If you DO what you need to do.”

We use this as a motivational poster in our CHARACTER COUNTS! program to inspire young people to take their education seriously and to realize that their future will be created by their ambitions and their efforts. This advice, however is just as relevant to your career goals.

Sometimes things just happen, but they are as likely to be bad as good if we wait. No matter what stage of life you are in, the formula for progress toward success is goal-setting, planning and diligent execution. The formula works in personal relationships and growth as well.

Never stop asking yourself the tough questions:

  • Are you the person you want to be, or at least moving in the right direction?
  • Are you where you really want to be, or at least are you well on your way?
  • Are you getting what you really want to feel good about your life.
  • Are you doing what you have to do to get what you want?
