The Josephson Institute and CHARACTER COUNTS! are based on a secular perspective of character and ethics.
We believe the Six Pillars of Character — trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship — transcend social, economic, ethnic, and religious differences. We believe that people of character may or may not be committed to a religious or spiritual perspective.
Since a vast majority of the world’s population adheres to some religious or spiritual belief system, we draw on many of these sources to support our advocacy of virtue and personal excellence. We also conduct training for clergy and religious schools using materials grounded in their belief systems.
This pdf document contains more than 100 color slides (originally created in PowerPoint) written or compiled by Michael Josephson that can be used by parents, teachers, and clergy to help people develop and strengthen their character.
Feel free to use them in presentations or print them out individually as posters. (Note that the pdf file is 36MB, so it may take some time to load.)
