  2. Hello Mr. Josephson

I like to extend my gratitude for all the word of wisdom provided that surely have benefitted many in different ways.
I wonder if you can help me reconcile two quotes that alone make complete sense.

    Quote 1:
“A person of character seeks true happiness in living a life of purpose and meaning, placing a higher value on significance than success.”
    – Michael Josephson

    Quote 2:
    Gratitude: The Key to Happiness
Happiness is not getting what you want; it’s appreciating what you have.
Gratitude is the key to happiness.
    -Michael Josephson

One can be grateful for what one has especially when considering others less fortunate.
My life had ups and downs, and these also help to appreciate all even more; I way to be at peace with
    oneself and feel happy.

Quote, 1 is much applicable to me. I prepared myself for a fruitful career in science and engineering and achieved major success creating things I am proud of; not as an individual success but more as a member of the human community because my objective and that I preach to my children, what I call the human directive: To improve and create for the benefit of humankind. All I have achieved fulfills the objective; to serve all resulting in happiness.
However, because of circumstances beyond my control, I had to leave that line of work for something more ‘stable’ that in my opinion, is of little ‘purpose and meaning’ resulting in not such a happy condition that I try to balance with Quote 2.

    Thank You
    Pedro
