Great leaders are teachers not tyrants. They help their followers see and understand more. They inspire them to become more and they motivate them to do more. – Michael Josephson
If you want to measure your leadership ability, seek to measure how many people who report to you have measurably grown in the past year.
Can they do things they couldn’t do before?
Can they understand things they couldn’t understand before?
Can they deal with situations that would have stymied them before?
Can they solve problems they would have deferred to you before?
Will they say things they would have kept to themselves before?
And, perhaps, most telling of all, do you have any real way to know any of these things?
