“I think the purpose of life is to be USEFUL, to be RESPONSIBLE, to be HONORABLE, to be COMPASSIONATE, to MATTER, to COUNT, to STAND FOR SOMETHING, to HAVE MADE SOME DIFFERENCE that you lived at all.” – Leo Rosten
Profits or Purpose? It’s not an either or choice but it’s not easy to pursue both profits and purpose. The profit part comes easier. We all have to make a living and we want to be comfortable. There is a certain level of fun and gratification (though usually short-lived) in acquiring stuff. Most of us have to consciously remind ourselves, however, the true joy and deeper fulfillment that comes from taking the time to pursue a larger sense of purpose. Yes, we should take time to smell the roses, but we should also take time to plant roses for others.
